OLDER GELDING NEEDS A GOOD HOME NOW!

Older Gelding Needs Home Now!

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS POSTED FROM A FRIEND OF MINE FROM ANGEL ACRES HORSE HAVEN RESCUE. PLEASE CROSS POST THIS FAR AND WIDE, WE NEED TO FIND THIS HORSE A GOOD HOME. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FOR INFORMATION......

This just in from one of our humane officer friends in MD...

Help is needed for a 20 + year old Appaloosa gelding he is located in Frederick County, MD in the Rocky Ridge Area.

He lives in an extremely neglectful home and is in desperate need of re-homing. Owner is cooperative and is willing to sign the horse over. He is in good body, but needs severe hoof care. He must go to a home that understands he is just a field ornament/pasture pal.

Grass and hay is all that he needs... he is on some grain thanks to the neighbor but he doesn't need it. He is a bit hard to catch but once caught he is a good boy. If you can help this sweet guy...

Save Horses From Slaughter! Contact your Congressmen and Senator and ask them to vote "yes" on bills H.R.503 and S-727. Here's a sample of what you could say to the administrator who answers the phone and takes your information:

"Hello, my name is [your name] and I live in [your town]. As a constituent, I'm calling to urge Representative [Your Congressman Name] to co-sponsor H.R. 503, Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, a bill to prevent horses from being cruelly slaughtered for human consumption. Thank you." Be sure to give the person your name, address and phone number.

A Horses Prayer

Feed me, give me water, and care for me, and when the day's work is done, give me shelter, a clean bed and a wide stall. Talk to me, your voice often substitutes for the reins for me. Be good to me and I will serve you cheerfully and love you. Don't jerk the reins and don't raise the whip. Don't beat or kick me when I don't understand you, but rather give me time to understand you. Don't consider it disobedience if I don't follow your commands. Perhaps there is a problem with my saddle, bridle or hooves. Check my teeth if I don't eat, maybe I have a toothache, you know how that hurts. Don't halter me too short and don't dock my tail, it's my only weapon against flies and mosquitoes. And at the end, dear master, when I am no longer any use to you, don't let me go hungry or freeze, and please don't sell me. Don't give me a master who slowly tortures me to death and lets me starve, but rather be merciful and take care of me, by letting me run and enjoy a warm pasture here with you or in heaven. Let me request this of you and please don't regard it as disrespectful if I ask it in the name of Him (Jesus) who was born in a stable like me. Amen

All these organizations do everything they can to save horses from slaughter. These horses going to slaughter are racehorses, and many other kinds of healthy and loving breeds. Even foals are sent to slaughter. Please donate to any one of these organizations I have listed. Even as little as $5.00 goes a long way. A horse was saved from slaughter for as little as $7.00. Are you doing all you can to make this world a better place to live in? I ask you that, and I ask that of myself every day. Horses are sent to auctions every day and most of them are bought by killer buyers and sent to slaughter. Most of those horses are healthy and young. So please, the next time you are in the market for buying a horse or foal, don't buy from a breeder, go to your nearest auction and save a life. All they want is a loving home to go to and in return give you unconditional love right back. :)
